A Few Good Reasons to Buy 311 Tickets on TicketIQ.com

Named after the Omaha Police Department’s code for indecent exposure, 311 conquered the 90s alternative scene with an inventive blend of reggae, hip-hop, metal and punk. Formed in 1988, the core line-up of lead vocalist Nick Hexum, guitarist Tim Mahoney, bassist Aaron ‘P-Nut’ Wills, turntablist Doug ‘SA’ Martinez and drummer Chad Sexton settled in 1992, and shortly after landed a deal with Capricorn Records. Their major label debut, Music, arrived a year later and was followed in 1994 by their first Billboard chart entry, Grassroots. 1995’s eponymous LP produced a string of alternative hits including “Down,” “Don’t Stay Home” and “All Mixed Up,” before the band further established their place in the rock elite with 1997’s Transistor and a 1998 live album recorded in New Orleans. 311 then became MTV favorites with 1999’s Soundsystem and 2001’s From Chaos thanks to videos starring American Pie’s Eddie Kaye Thomas (“Flowing”) and basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal (“You Wouldn’t Believe”), while in 2000, the group celebrated the inaugural and unofficial holiday, 311 Day, with an extended concert in front of thousands of fans. After adding to their discography with 2003’s Evolver, the group invited G. Love & Special Sauce, O.A.R. and Something Corporate to join them on the first of their annual Unity Tours and scored their first US Hot 100 hit with a cover version of The Cure’s “Love Song” recorded for their Greatest Hits 93-03 compilation. The band’s eighth album, Don’t Tread on Me, arrived in 2005 and was followed up four years later by Uplifter, a Bob Rock-produced affair which peaked at a career high of number three. 2011 proved to be a busy year as they scored their seventh consecutive Top 10 album with Universal Pulse, hosted the first of their yearly Caribbean Cruises and launched the inaugural Pow Wow Festival at Florida’s Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park. A year later the group headed out on the road with Slightly Stoopid, SOJA and The Aggrolites for their tenth Unity Tour, while in 2014, they released Stereolithic, their first indie album since 1991’s Unity, and embraced a symphonic sound with live album 311 with the Unity Orchestra.
