One of the most influential guitar bands of all time, AC/DC have sold over 200 million records worldwide thanks to an explosive sound which stripped rock and roll down to its purest form. Guitarist brothers Malcolm and Angus Young formed the band in 1973, and after recruiting lead vocalist Bon Scott, bassist Mark Evans and drummer Phil Rudd, released their international debut album, High Voltage, three years later. AC/DC tickets then went on sale for the group’s Lock Up Your Daughters tour, while support slots on stadium shows headlined by KISS, Aerosmith and Black Sabbath also boosted their mainstream appeal. After adding to their catalog with Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, Let There Be Rock and Powerage, the group recorded their first live album, If You Want Blood, You’ve Got It, in front of fans with AC/DC tickets at Glasgow’s Apollo Theatre. The demand for AC/DC tickets grew considerably in 1979 when they teamed up with producer Mutt Lange for Highway To Hell, which peaked at No.17 on the Billboard 200. Tragedy struck in 1980 when Scott died of alcohol poisoning, but the group bounced back later that year with new vocalist Brian Johnson and Back In Black, a tribute to their late frontman which went onto become one of the biggest-selling albums in rock history, shifting 50 million copies worldwide. Sales of AC/DC tickets remained high throughout the 80s thanks to the likes of US number one album, For Those About to Rock We Salute You, the back-to-basics Flick of the Switch and the soundtrack to Stephen King movie Maximum Overdrive. Following the release of 1990’s The Razor’s Edge and AC/DC tickets for an accompanying world tour, the band scored their first Mainstream Rock chart-topper with “Big Gun,” headlined the Monsters of Rock Festival and worked with Rick Rubin on 1995’s Ballbreaker. Produced by older Young brother George, 2000’s Stiff Upper Lip was followed by an induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and a performance in front of half of a million fans with The Rolling Stones, Rush and AC/DC tickets for a record-breaking show named Molson Canadian Rocks for Toronto. In 2008, the group scored their second US number one album with Black Ice, and brought in an astonishing $441 million in sales of AC/DC tickets for a tour officially named as the fourth highest-grossing of all time. After recording the 2010 soundtrack to Iron Man 2, the group won their first ever Grammy for “War Machine,” and released their first live album in 20 years, Live at River Plate. In 2014, Malcolm Young left the group due to ill health, but the group soldiered on, releasing a brand new studio effort, Rock or Bust, and AC/DC tickets for a world tour later that same year.
