About Muse Tickets on TiqIQ.com
Renowned for their visually stunning sets, sense of the theatrical, and ambitious rock-opera sound, Muse are widely regarded as one of the greatest live acts in the world today. Formed in Teignmouth, Devon in the early 90s, frontman Matt Bellamy, bassist Chris Wolstenholme, and drummer Dom Howard decided to quit their jobs and university studies after winning a battle of the bands contest. Following a support slot with Skunk Anansie, they signed to the Taste indie label in the UK where they released 1999 critically-acclaimed debut Showbiz and 2001 sophomore album Origin Of Symmetry, the latter of which featured a hit cover version of Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good.” After threatening Celine Dion with legal action over the ‘Muse’ title of her Las Vegas residency, the band released the live/B-sides Hullaballoo compilation and scored their first UK number one album with 2003’s Absolution. Muse tickets for an extensive world tour of the same name then went on sale, with the band also managing to squeeze in a headline slot at Glastonbury and a performance at the Paris leg of Live 8, resulting in their first BRIT Award for Best British Live Act. 2006’s sci-fi themed Black Holes & Revelations was nominated for the Mercury Prize, spawned the hit singles “Supermassive Black Hole” and “Starlight” and proved to be their US breakthrough, peaking at No.9. An incredible 180,000 Muse tickets were sold for their two 2007 gigs at the newly-opened Wembley Stadium, both of which were later documented on the HAARP CD/DVD, and the band continued to perform in front of large audiences with sets at the "Austin City Limits Music Festival" and "Rock In Rio". In 2009, the trio released the Grammy-winning self-produced The Resistance, performed lead single, “Uprising,” at the MTV Video Music Awards and embarked on a 139-date world tour. After supporting U2 on their 2010 360° tour, guitarist The Edge returned the favour when he joined them on stage at Glastonbury for a rendition of “Where The Streets Have No Name,” whilst in the same year the band contributed a track to The Twilight Saga: Eclipse soundtrack. In 2012, they were invited to write the official anthem for the London 2012 Summer Olympics (“Survival”), and following the release of their fourth consecutive UK number one and their highest-charting US album, The 2nd Law, Muse tickets were made available for a tour across Europe, Asia and North America. 2015's Drones again sees the band reaching new heights both in sound and sales, with 84,200 copies sold in its first week and debuted at No. 1 in 21 countries across the globe.
