A Few Good Reasons to Buy Peter Frampton Tickets on TicketIQ.com

Guitar hero Peter Frampton first found fame as a member of The Herd and Humble Pie before launching a solo career which produced one of the biggest-selling live albums of all time. Born in Kent, England in 1950, Frampton first picked up the guitar aged eight and appeared in various rock ‘n’ roll combos including The Little Ravens, The Trubeats and The Preachers, the latter of which were managed by The Rolling Stones’ Bill Wyman, while still at high school. Frampton’s career began to take off when he joined the line-up of The Herd in 1966, a mod pop outfit who scored a string of UK hit singles, and became a bona fide teen idol. Keen to prove he was more than just a pretty face, Frampton left the band in 1968 to form the harder-rocking Humble Pie with ex-Small Faces frontman Steve Marriott, scoring a US Top 40 album with Performance Rockin’ the Fillmore before departing for a solo career in 1971. Despite guest appearances from Ringo Starr and Billy Preston, 1972 debut Wind of Change made little commercial impact, while named after his backing band, 1973 follow-up Frampton’s Camel also failed to chart. However, after building up his fan base with a relentless touring schedule, Frampton finally achieved his mainstream breakthrough with 1975’s eponymous LP, scoring radio hits with the likes of “Baby, I Love Your Way” and “Show Me the Way.” Frampton’s career then reached new heights when Frampton Comes Alive, a live album recorded at San Francisco’s Winterland, became something of a phenomenon, spending ten weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 and eventually shifting 16 million copies worldwide. After Rolling Stone named Frampton as their Artist of the Year, Frampton built on his success with 1977’s I’m In You, scoring his biggest ever hit with the title track. But 1978 proved to be a disastrous year as he entered a period of drug abuse, appeared in the flop Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band film and nearly lost his life in a car accident in the Bahamas. Frampton struggled to get his career back on track, with 1982’s The Art of Control missing the Top 100 altogether, but after taking a four-year break, he returned to form with 1986’s Premonition. Frampton largely focused on touring in the 90s, releasing a sequel to Frampton Comes Alive in 1995, but returned to the studio several times in the 00s, including 2003’s Now, 2006’s Grammy-winning Fingerprints and 2010’s Thank You Mr. Churchill. 2013’s Frampton’s Guitar Circus Tour, which also featured the likes of B.B King, Robert Cray and Kenny Wayne Shepherd, was then followed by 2014’s Hummingbird in a Box, an E.P. inspired by the Cincinnati Ballet.
