Pink Biography

Initially dismissed as merely another manufactured artist, Pink quickly established a huge following thanks to a feisty attitude and effortless ability to straddle the worlds of pop, R&B and rock, eventually becoming one of the most successful female vocalists of the 21st Century. Pink tickets took off at an equally impressive rate. Born Alecia Beth Moore in Abington, Pennsylvania in 1979 to a nurse mother and Vietnam veteran father, she acquired her colorful stage name when she began performing in various Philadelphia clubs at the age of 14. After relocating to Atlanta for a brief stint in failed girl-band trio Choice, she signed to L.A. Reid’s LaFace Records as a solo artist, releasing her debut album, Can’t Take Me Home, in 2000. Despite the US Top 10 success of singles “There You Go” and “Most Girls,” Pink became disenchanted with her R&B sound and after recruiting the song-writing talents of former 4 Non-Blondes front-woman Linda Perry, began pursuing a more guitar-oriented direction. Following the chart-topping success of her Moulin Rouge collaboration with Mya, Lil’ Kim and Christina Aguilera, Pink unveiled her musical reinvention with 2001’s Missundaztood, a No.6 hit which spawned three US Top 10 singles, shifted 13 million copies worldwide and enabled her to release Pink tickets for her first headline Party Tour. Co-written with Rancid’s Tim Armstrong, 2003’s Try This continued to embrace her rock side but despite landing a Grammy Award for lead single “Trouble,” the album sold barely a fraction of its predecessor. However, she returned triumphant in 2006 by hooking up with hit-makers Dr. Luke and Max Martin for I’m Not Dead, scoring three consecutive Top 20 hits (“Stupid Girls,” “Who Knew,” “U & Ur Hand”) and attracting the biggest concert attendance for a female arena tour in Australian history. Pink tickets became even more in demand after she released 2008’s Funhouse, home to her first US solo number one, “So What,” and showcased her now signature trapeze moves during its accompanying tour and standing ovation-worthy performance at the 2010 Grammys. “Raise Your Glass,” the first single from compilation Greatest Hits… So Far, continued her chart-topping streak as did 2012’s The Truth About Love LP and “Just Give Me A Reason,” a collaboration with fun.’s Nate Ruess. While her status as one of the country’s biggest live draws was confirmed when Pink tickets for the North American leg of her 2013 tour grossed nearly $24million.
