American-Armenian quartet System of a Down set themselves apart from their contemporaries with
a politically-charged blend of 80s thrash metal and 90s alt-rock which also drew upon their Eastern
European roots. Formed in Southern California, the band’s core line-up of frontman Serj Tankian,
guitarist Daron Malakian, bassist Shavo Odadjian and drummer John Dolmayan settled in 1997, and
after building up a demand for System of a Down tickets in the Los Angeles area with regular shows
at Whisky-A-Go-Go and The Viper Room, they landed a deal with Rick Rubin’s American/Columbia
Records. In 1998, the group dropped their self-titled debut album, opened for Slayer and Metallica
on their North American tours and released System of a Down tickets for their headline
performances on the Sno-Core tour alongside Puya, Mr. Bungle and Incubus. System of a Down
tickets became even hotter property in 2001 when Toxicity reached number one on the Billboard
200 and went onto shift twelve million copies worldwide. After performing to thousands of fans with
System of a Down tickets for a co-headlining tour with Slipknot, the group released 2002’s Steal This
Album!, a collection of outtakes which had been leaked onto the internet a year earlier. Sales of
System of a Down tickets continued to rise in 2005 when the group became only the fifth act in chart
history to score two chart-topping albums in the same year, firstly with Mesmerize, and then with
Hypnotize. The lead single from the former, “B.Y.O.B.,” then picked up a Grammy Award in 2006, but
after headlining Ozzfest, the group announced they were going on hiatus to pursue various side
projects including Scars on Broadway, AcHoZeN and Tankian’s solo career. Fans then snapped up
System of a Down tickets in 2010 when the group returned to the live fold for sets at several
European festivals including Rock am Ring, Download and Provinssirock. The group then released
System of a Down tickets for a lengthy reunion tour across North and South America, Europe and
Australia. While in 2015, the group concluded their Wake up the Souls tour by giving away free
System of Down tickets for a show at Yerevan’s Republic Square which commemorated the 100th
anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
