The former New Jersey Nets have now moved to the Brooklyn borough in New
York. Brooklyn Nets tickets will now be an option for New York fans.
Who is this team? Founded in 1967 as the New Jersey Americans, this team was an
original member of the American Basketball Association (ABA). After changing their
name to the New York Nets, the team won two ABA championships with a certain player
named, Julius “Dr. J.” Erving. As one would imagine, Brooklyn Nets tickets then were a hot
commodity. The final championship the Brooklyn Nets tickets afforded you was also the
final season of the ABA. The merger that transpired found the Nets a part of the NBA in
1976. Finding a consistent place to play their games was a challenge. The inconsistency of
venues wreaked havoc on the purchase of Brooklyn Nets tickets. This was because there
was another NBA team in New York and trying to create a true fan base with two teams is
difficult.
As a part of the NBA, the Brooklyn Nets tickets granted the fans the opportunity to see the
successes and failures over the years. With players like Nate Archibald, Rick Barry, Darryl
Dawkins, Mookie Blaylock, Orlando Woolridge, Dennis Hospson, Jason Kidd and Vince
Carter, over the years, the team eventually made a NBA finals appearance in 2003. They lost
to the LA Lakers.
Tragedy also hit the team when Drazen Petrovic was killed in a car accident during off
season in 1993. His number “3” jersey has been retired.
With so many moves, the Brooklyn Nets tickets sales has been erratic at best. One reason
is due to the team not having a consistent fan base. With moves back and forth from New
York, they have played in many arenas including: Teaneck Armory, Long Island Arena,
Island Garden, Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Rutgers Athletic Center, Izod Center,
Prudential Center and now the Barclays Center.
When you think of the name “Nets”, one wonders what the significance of the name is and
how that name was derived. The name was selected because it rhymed with two other
New York teams--- the Mets, the professional baseball team and the Jets, the professional
football team. Also a “net” is part of the apparatus needed to play basketball. Using all that
logic, the name Nets was decided upon. Make sense doesn’t it?
The Brooklyn Net’s biggest fan now is rapper, Jay Z. As a part owner of the team, Jay Z has
grabbed the reins and has been in the forefront of making the Brooklyn Nets tickets more
desirable in New York. Jay Z designed two new logos with the new colors of the team, which
are black and white. The new Brooklyn Nets will soon make their grand appearance.
As for the other Nets fans, they are ready to purchase Brooklyn Nets tickets and finally put
down their stakes as a true blue Brooklyn Nets fan. All of the NBA fans are waiting to see
the outcome of this brand change.

11-20-12: These aren’t the same old Nets. Yet. Thus far the Nets have played good team basketball and sit in second place by only one game with a 6-2 record. Tonight they face a true test on the second game of their west coast trip, in LA. After the Laker game the Nets will then play the Warriors on the road before returning home to face Chris Paul and The Clippers at home Friday. Many have predicted this Nets team to finish in the top 3-4 seeds amongst eastern conference teams. Early injuries to Gerald Wallace and Marshon Brooks have prevented anyone from seeing the team’s true potential thus far. If the Nets can stay healthy, look for them to make some noise in the east.
2-14-13: The Brooklyn Nets have remained in the race despite a lot of up and down play through the first half of the season. A coaching change and several injuries have acted as road blocks for the Nets but they have not haunted their race to win the division. Currently in second place the Nets played their last two games without Deron Williams, however they won both of those games against the Pacers and Nuggets, both who are in playoff contention. As the competition stiffens time will tell if these Nets are for real or not. They have played inspired basketball under new coach P.J. Carlesimo and several players seem to be more comfortable in his system, opposed to Avery Johnson's.
