Brooklyn Nets News
7-11-13: The Nets have signed Andrei Kirilenko for the mini mid-level for $3.1 million.
Nets 2013 NBA Draft Summary:
Round 1, Pick 22: C, Mason Plumlee, Duke.
On draft night the Nets acquired Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Jason Terry from the Celtics and in return sent three first-round picks (2014, '16 and '18) along with Kris Joseph, Kris Humphries' expiring contract, Gerald Wallace, MarShon Brooks and Keith Bogans to Boston.
6-12-13: If Brooklyn were told that it’s team would win 49 games in its inaugural season as well as earn the right to host the first round of the playoffs at home, many of its faithful would sign up for that. However this season was filled with a ton of ups and downs from certain players as well as a coaching change that rocked the boat. Despite all of that, the season ended on a sour note when the extremely shorthanded Bulls, were able to clip the Nets in game 7 in Brooklyn. Moving forward the Nets, as a team do not have much maneuverability so expect their roster to look very much the same come next year. However consistent play along with leadership from Deron Williams could be a huge difference maker.
11-20-12: These aren’t the same old Nets. Yet. Thus far the Nets have played good team basketball and sit in second place by only one game with a 6-2 record. Tonight they face a true test on the second game of their west coast trip, in LA. After the Laker game the Nets will then play the Warriors on the road before returning home to face Chris Paul and The Clippers at home Friday. Many have predicted this Nets team to finish in the top 3-4 seeds amongst eastern conference teams. Early injuries to Gerald Wallace and Marshon Brooks have prevented anyone from seeing the team’s true potential thus far. If the Nets can stay healthy, look for them to make some noise in the east.
2-14-13: The Brooklyn Nets have remained in the race despite a lot of up and down play through the first half of the season. A coaching change and several injuries have acted as road blocks for the Nets but they have not haunted their race to win the division. Currently in second place the Nets played their last two games without Deron Williams, however they won both of those games against the Pacers and Nuggets, both who are in playoff contention. As the competition stiffens time will tell if these Nets are for real or not. They have played inspired basketball under new coach P.J. Carlesimo and several players seem to be more comfortable in his system, opposed to Avery Johnson's.
