The Orlando Magic are relative newcomers to the NBA, as they were created as part
of the NBA expansion in 1989. The team has gone on to achieve great success in
their short history, forming a terrific relationship with their fans and having some
of basketball's best players as part of their current and past rosters. Orlando Magic
tickets have always sold tremendously well, with people all over the state of Florida
being fans of the team. The fact that the team has been in the playoffs for most of
the seasons in their history has also helped sell Orlando Magic tickets.
The Magic have been in the playoffs in 14 out of the 23 years of their existence. That
is a remarkable stat and is a record that bodes well for their future. Great trade deals
and some very shrewd draft pick-ups have helped the magic over the years. The
past 20 odd years have seen Orlando Magic tickets holders see great players such
as Shaquille O'Neil, Steve Francis, Penny Hardaway, Rashard Lewis, Grant Hill, Tracy
McGrady, and Dwight Howard all ply their trade in the famous blue and white shirts.
Orlando Magic tickets were never more sought after than during the 1995 and 2009
seasons when the team became conference champions and made it to the NBA
finals. Both times they were defeated, yet the fans were proud of the effort their
team put into each occasion. Despite all this success, the Magic have twice been
burned by their best centers leaving the team for the lure of Hollywood and the L.A.
Lakers. Shaquille O'Neill and most recently Dwight Howard were both traded from
the Magic to the Lakers. Shaq won multiple championships in L.A. and history tells us
that there is a good chance Howard will do the same.
The Orlando Magic played at the Amway Arena from 1989 until the 2008-2009
season. This was their home for ten years and they endured some great times
there. However, Orlando Magic tickets sold so well over the years that fans and
management felt that a new arena was in order. So for the 2009-2010 season
the Magic moved to the newly built Amway Center. The arena can hold 18,846
basketball fans and Orlando Magic tickets often sell out at this stadium. The Magic
will be hoping for many playoff games in this stadium and fans will be wishing for the
ultimate: a NBA Championship.
The Orlando Magic fans are a dedicated and unique set of supporters. The team
might only have existed for 23 years, yet the fan base it has built up in this time
period is extraordinary. There are rarely ever Orlando Magic tickets available close to
a game. Most games are sell outs as soon as tickets go on sale, especially big clashes
against the Lakers or the Heat.
Magic fans are also very passionate and loyal towards their players. They feel that
anyone who puts on the Magic shirt has a duty to perform at great levels. However,
fans have also been disappointed by players in the past. The departure of Shaquille
O'Neal to the Lakers was a bitter pill to swallow for those who regularly bought
Orlando Magic tickets. Fans had grown to love Shaq and they wanted him to bring
a title to Orlando. Instead he went to Hollywood. A similar saga broke out recently
with Dwight Howard. In return for Howard to the Lakers, the Magic have received
numerous players and draft picks, as well as getting a few big contracts off their
wage bill. Their new G.M., the youngest in the league, will be hoping to rebuild the
side Howard left behind into eventual championship contenders.

6-12-13: The Magic were destined for the lottery the day Dwight Howard was traded and all the predictions seemed accurate. At 20-63, all five positions on the Magic roster were open for audition. Having the second overall pick in the NBA draft is only going strengthen their youth movement going forward. Jameer Nelson, the current elder statesmen of the team, had an up and down year in and out of the lineup due to injuries. Rookie forward Maurice Harkless showed promise when he was awarded extra playing time due to the season ending injury to Aaron Afflalo. Nikola Vecevic had a great rookie campaign averaging 13 points and 11 rebounds.
2-25-13: The Magic were one of the few teams that actually executed a trade before last week’s deadline. They sent JJ Reddick to the Bucks and received roster fillers Doron Lamb, Tobias Harris and Beno Udrih in return. The oft injured point guard Jameer Nelson has played well when he is on the court; however injuries seem to pile up along with the losses. At 15-41 and losers of 5 in a row the Magic have little to look forward to for the remainder of this season. As expected, after trading Dwight Howard, the Magic are headed for the lottery fast. It will be interesting to see how much more of a chance the organization is willing to give rookie head coach Jacque Vaughn after a dreadful first season.
11-26-12: It is not easy to rebuild in the NBA and that’s exactly what the post Dwight Howard Orlando Magic have been forced to do. While the Magic have played a majority of their games against eastern conference opponents, they still have only managed to post a 5-8 clip, including back to back blowout losses to Brooklyn during a home and home series. Their latest loss came in overtime against the Celtics, 116-110. If Jameer Nelson is unable to stay healthy the Magic could be headed toward the lottery fast. With the Spurs and Nets as their next two opponents, it just doesn’t seem to be getting any easier anytime soon.
