9-16-14: The Boston College Eagles
took on the undefeated and 9th ranked USC Trojans this week at home in Alumni Stadium. This was a prime time game that was played at 8:00 pm ET on ESPN so all eyes were on the Eagles and the Trojans tonight and one team came to play. Boston College responded and upset the 9th best team in the nation with a 37-31 final score. Boston College was terrible on third down’s in the game with a 2-11 efficiency but the Eagles did manage to put up 506 yards of total offense including 452 on the ground. Boston College controlled the ball and controlled the clock for much of the game and the defense did just enough to win the game over a touch Pac 12 school. USC could not get the running game going as they only gained 20 yards on 29 attempts and the Trojans offense became too predictable and one dimensional. This made it easier for the Eagles defense to predict what was coming and made it easier to defend in the secondary.
