The University of Georgia has one of the premier college football programs in the nation. Last season they were expected to be a major factor in the race for a national champion, but injuries derailed what started as a promising season. The Bulldogs didn’t even have their starting quarterback, Aaron Murray, for their bowl game against Nebraska. They ultimately lost 24-19. But this season Georgia is once again expected to be a major player, and Georgia football tickets have seen a big premium on the secondary market because of it.

Currently Georgia football tickets are the second most expensive in the nation with a $236.72 average. The only team with a more expensive ticket average is Notre Dame with a $252.25 average. That means Georgia football tickets are even more expensive than Alabama, despite the Crimson Tide’s recent dominance in the sport.

Ticket sales certainly got a boost based on the Georgia football schedule within the SEC. The SEC is broken into an Eastern and Western division, and the teams only crossover divisions for two games a year. One team is a regularly scheduled opponent, and one rotates. Georgia regularly plays Auburn, last season’s SEC champion. That game is the second most expensive on the Georgia football schedule with Georgia football tickets currently averaging $338.24.

The most expensive game on the Georgia football schedule is their first game of the season against ACC member Clemson. Last season Georgia lost 38-35, but this year the game is in Georgia. Georgia football tickets are averaging $352.83 for the game. But those two aren’t the only tough games on the Georgia football schedule. The Bulldogs will also play Missouri, Florida, and South Carolina. Those three teams are the most likely challenger to Georgia in the East division.

Even some of the lesser matchups on the Georgia football schedule have high average ticket prices. Both their game against Tennessee and Georgia Tech are averaging over $200 a ticket. The game against Tennessee is currently at $241.01 and the game against state rival Georgia Tech is at $250.98.

The Top 25 has yet to be released for the upcoming season, but the consensus among prognosticators is that Georgia should be favored in the East. They’re also likely to snag a ranking in the top 10. That’s even with Murray now in the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs. A big reason for the optimism surround Georgia is the return of star running back Todd Gailey. He was a possible Heisman Trophy candidate based on his production, but the Bulldogs lost him fairly early to injury, arguably the biggest hit the team took all season.

Last season was a bit of a disappointment for Georgia based on preseason expectations. But good programs retool fast, and the Bulldogs are once again a presumed favorite in the East division of the SEC. It’s one of the reasons Georgia currently has one of the highest ticket averages in the entire nation.
