LSU Tigers News
10-20-14: Terrence Magee collected 220 all-purpose yards and rushed for two touchdowns, while Tre'Davious White scored on a 67-yard punt return as LSU routed Kentucky 41-3. The Tigers ran the ball 51 times for 303 yards and outgained the Wildcats 423-217. Quarterback Brandon Jennings attempted only 14 passes. He completed seven of them for 120 yards. The Tigers host AP No. 3 Ole Miss this week.
10-15-14: The Tigers escaped Gainesville with a 30-27 victory Saturday. The Tigers avoided their first 0-3 start in SEC play since 1999. This was only their second win in Gainesville in their last five tries. QB Anthony Jennings struggled as he was 10 of 21 for 110 yards. He was sacked four times, but made key plays when he needed to. LSU hosts Kentucky this weekend.
10-6-14: The Tigers suffered their worst loss since 2000 as they were defeated by Auburn 41-7. Brandon Harris completed 3 of 14 passes for just 58 yards before getting replaced in the third quarter by former starter Anthony Jennings. The Tiger defense gave up 247 yards in the first quarter and 556 yards total. They travel to Gainesville this week to play Florida.
10-1-14: The Tigers rebounded nicely from last week's loss to Mississippi State with a runaway 63-7 victory over New Mexico State. LSU led 14-0 after the first quarter but committed three turnovers, all by quarterback Anthony Jennings. He was pulled after losing a fumble and throwing two interceptions. Freshman Brandon Harris came in and led the Tigers to touchdowns on all seven of his series. Harris finished 11 of 14 passes for 178 yards and three TDs. Harris looks to be the guy under center for Les Miles from here on out. The Tigers have a big SEC matchup this week when they travel to face off against AP No. Auburn.
9-22-14: It was upset city in Baton Rouge this weekend as LSU's dominant defense was overwhelmed by Mississippi State 34-29. This is the Tigers first loss to the Bulldogs since 1999, and their first loss at home to Mississippi State in 23 years. LSU allowed 570 total yards to the Bulldogs, including 302 on the ground. They were down 17-10 early in the second half, but allowed 17 straight points to turn the game into a runaway. The Tigers made late effort behind backup quarterback Brandon Harris, but their comeback bid fell short.
9-15-14: The Tigers weren’t challenged in a 31-0 rout of a Louisiana-Monroe team this past weekend. With that being said, head coach Les Miles appears to have found a starting quarterback. Sophomore Anthony Jennings didn’t throw a touchdown, but completed 11 of 18 passes for 139 yards with an interception. Freshman Brandon Harris attempted only two passes, completing one for 14 yards. LSU will host Mississippi State this coming weekend.
9-9-14: LSU registered its first shutout since 2010 and racked up 584 yards in its home opener, beating Sam Houston State 56-0. The Tigers rushed for a total of 334 yards in the process. LSU got 188 passing yards and three touchdowns from QB Anthony Jennings, with QB Brandon Harris also tossing a score. The pair combined to complete 11 of 18 passes for 250 yards. Les Miles’ squad will play host to Louisiana-Monroe this coming weekend.
9-4-14: Almost any game head coach Les Miles is apart of is an adventure. LSU trailed by 17 points midway through the third quarter last week in their game against then AP No. 14 Wisconsin. A fake punt, of all things, turned the game around. Miles called for linebacker Kendell Beckwith to take the ball from his up-man position, and the sophomore gained five yards on a 4th-and-4 play. That single play propelled the Tigers and deflated the Badgers as LSU ended up winning 28-24. Quarterback Anthony Jennings threw for 239 yards and two touchdowns despite just completing nine of 21 passes. The Tigers take on Sam Houston State this Saturday.
