Michigan State Spartans News
9-15-14: The Spartans were idle this week, but open up as a 45-point favorite over Eastern Michigan in the teams’ game this Saturday at Spartan Stadium. Michigan State is coming off a 46-27 loss at No. 2-ranked Oregon on Sept. 6. It was the largest margin of defeat under Coach Mark Dantonio since Nebraska beat Michigan State 24-3 back on Oct. 29, 2011. This will be the 10th all-time meeting between the teams. The Spartans have won all of the previous nine games.
9-9-14: Oh what could have been for the Spartans? Michigan State surrendered a nine-point second-half lead, falling apart in the game's final 25 minutes as it had no answer for Oregon's offense falling to the Ducks 46-27. QB Connor Cook threw for 343 yards on, hooking up 11 times for 133 yards and a TD with Tony Lippett. MSU couldn’t rush the ball effectively, with Jeremy Langford getting 24 carries and just 86 yards. The Spartan defense wore down in the second half and yielded 491 total yards to Oregon. Michigan State has a bye next week.
9-4-14: Michigan State's outcome was never really in doubt in their 45-7 win over Jacksonville State, though the future of its season was when quarterback Connor Cook took a late hit to his legs in the first quarter. Cook would later return to the game after his little scare completing 12 of 13 passes for 285 yards. Running back Jeremy Langford added 57 rushing yards. Langford was limited due to an ankle injury. The AP No. 7 Spartans will need all their players healthy when square off with AP No. 3 Oregon this Saturday in a major nonconference showdown.
