Oklahoma Sooners News
10-15-14: The Cowboys needed a kickoff return touchdown from Tyreek Hill and a late defensive stop to escape with a 27-20 win over an awful Kansas team. Hill's 99-yard return with 6:43 left in the game came right after the Jayhawks tied the game at 20. Oklahoma State managed only 275 yards of total offense. OK-State travels to Fort Worth to take on TCU this week.
10-6-14: Oklahoma couldn't pull out a second consecutive road win, losing 37-33 to TCU for the first time since last November. QB Trevor Knight threw for 309 yards and a touchdown, but he completed only 14 of 35 passes with two interceptions. Samaje Perine had 87 yards on 25 carries with three rushing TDs. The Sooners play Texas this week in the Red River Shootout.
10-1-14: The Sooners had a bye this week, but will play their second straight road game against TCU this week after running past West Virginia a week ago. Oklahoma may have running back Keith Ford back from a leg injury, but if not, Samaje Perine and Alex Ross are excellent options. If you recall, Perine ran for 242 yards and four touchdowns a week ago. The TCU defense has only allowed 21 points in three games this season.
9-22-14: The Sooners were in for a shootout against West Virginia this past weekend. The game was tied at 24 at halftime, but then freshman running back Samaje Perine scored three of his four rushing touchdowns to go with 242 rushing yards total on 34 carries for the 45-33 Oklahoma victory. Perine was unstoppable in the second half. Oklahoma ran for 301 yards on the ground, and finished with 510 yards overall. They also got a 100-yard kickoff return touchdown from Alex Ross. The Sooners have a bye this week.
9-15-14: The Sooners just keep on rolling as they crushed Tennessee 34-10 in Norman this past Saturday. The Sooner defense was dominant and quarterback Trevor Knight finished 20 of 33 for 308 yards and two total touchdowns in a game that was never really in doubt. Oklahoma picked off Vols QB Justin Worley twice, including a 100 yard return by Julian Wilson. Bob Stoops’ squad will travel to Morgantown next weekend to face a high-powered West Virginia team.
9-9-14: The Sooner offense just continues to roll as they racked up 580 yards of total offense in their 52-7 dismantling of in-state Tulsa this past weekend. Trevor Knight had 299 passing yards and two touchdowns. He also added a 31-yard run. Sterling Shepard caught eight balls for 177 yards and Oklahoma’s run game rushed for 261 yards. The Sooner defense forced four Tulsa turnovers. They haven’t had a true test yet, but Oklahoma looks like a serious national title contender. They play host the Tennessee Vols this weekend in Norman.
9-4-14: Of all the teams who played in Week 1, the Sooners looked the best top-to-bottom. Their offense was efficient, not flashy, while their defense shined in their 48-16 win over Louisiana Tech. Oklahoma got 253 passing yards from Trevor Knight, on just 19-of-34 passing and included both a touchdown and an interception. The run game gained 183 yards total and scored five touchdowns. The Sooners travel in-state this weekend where they’ll face the Tulsa Golden Hurricane.
