12-1-14: Backup quarterback Skyler Howard threw three touchdown passes, while Rushel Shell ran for
146 yards as West Virginia beat Iowa State 37-24 Saturday. Howard was 21-of-40 for 285 yards
in his first career start in place of Clint Trickett. Mario Alford had two touchdown catches for the
Mountaineers, which finished above .500 in the Big 12 for the first time. WVU now awaits their bowl game opponent.
11-24-14: The Mountaineers have now lost three straight games after losing 26-20 to Kansas State. Prior to their three straight losses, WVU had won four in a row. West Virginia committed four turnovers,
with three of them occurring inside the Kansas State 30. Quarterback Clint Trickett left the game
with a concussion. They close out the season at Iowa State this week.
11-10-14: The Mountaineers had a tough 33-16 loss to Texas Saturday. West Virginia now has two straight
losses and it could be the start of yet another late-season debacle in the Big 12. The
Mountaineers looked tired after last week's last-second loss to TCU. Dreamius Smith ran for 100
yards for West Virginia. Kevin White had a school record 16 catches for 132 yards, but couldn't
produce when it counted.
11-3-14: West Virginia squandered a pair of 13-point leads Saturday with five turnovers contributing to a 31-30 loss to TCU. Quarterback Clint Trickett threw for 162 yards and a touchdown on 15 of 26 passing. He was also intercepted twice. The Mountaineers also lost three fumbles. West Virginia got a five-yard TD run from Dreamius Smith, who led the team with 70 rushing yards. WVU plays Texas this week.
10-27-14: WVU jumped out to a 14-0 lead, and then used their defense in the second half to pace a key conference 34-10 road victory over Oklahoma State. The Mountaineers held the Cowboys scoreless over the final 38 minutes and forced two takeaways. Quaterback Clint Trickett threw for 238 yards with two touchdown passes. West Virginia has a huge conference matchup next this week as they host the high-powered TCU Horned Frogs.
