The New Orleans Saints were founded in 1967l. The team was subject to mediocrity in the first two decades of its existence. In fact, the Saints only managed to reach .500 twice in that twenty year span. The Saints tickets bought by fans did not allow them to view a winning season until 1987, a year that marked a significant change in the Saints’ performance. The team’s first success in the playoffs came when it defeated the St. Louis Rams that season. Following this win, Saints tickets sales began to soar with fans being able to enjoy the team’s greater performance on the field. Highlights from the team's history are truly great significance for fans of the team. One of particular note is the record breaking 63-yard field goal that gave delighted fans in possession of Saints tickets the chance to witness the team's stunning defeat of the Detroit Lions in the final seconds of regulation. The record has since been equaled, after almost thirty years, but it has yet to be exceeded. In sharp contrast to the Saints early history, the current Saints team has enjoyed incredible success under the coaching of Sean Payton and the quarterbacking of Drew Brees, highlighted by the Saints only Super Bowl victory in the 2009 season. Today, Saints tickets offer fans a chance to see a team that has come a very long way since its first few difficult decades.
Saints tickets have allowed fans access to the Superdome since it first opened its doors on August 3rd, 1975. The 76,000 seat structure gained world wide attention during the devastation that followed Hurricane Katrina in 2005, when it used as an emergency shelter for those affected by the storm. The Superdome itself did not escape the hurricane without damage of its own. Damage to the roof and flooding of the interior kept the Superdome from being used by the team for the rest of the season. Saints tickets were no longer available for a number of home games after Hurricane Katrina. Instead the team was forced to play at Giants Stadium, the Alamodome, and Tiger Stadium while repairs were completed. Repairs and renovations were finished in time for the start of the 2006 season, and after an estimated cost of $185 million, the team was once again able to return to its home field. The Saints enjoy not one, but two mascots: Gumbo the dog and Sir Saint. These two icons are frequently seen leading the cheers of fans and residents with Saints tickets in an effort to support the team. The most notable rivalry the team is involved in is against the Atlanta Falcons, with the two teams joining the National Football League within a year of each other. The newcomers have been pitted against each other ever since. Games against the Falcons bring a high demand for Saints tickets, as do games against their other rivals the Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings, and even the 49ers.
12-4-12: The Saints are 5-7 and really shot themselves in the foot last week by losing to Atlanta. Despite the high-powered offense, the Saints have been unble to put up a winning record due to a weak defense. One can also question whether the suspensions and controversy surrounding the team all season has anything to do with their up and down play. However with four games left, the Saints are not dead yet. Up next is a tough game against the New York Giants which could either seal their fate or propel a magical run.
