The New York Giants are one of the oldest franchises in NFL History. Of the five teams that joined the NFL in 1925, the Giants are the only team still remaining. The Giants rank third all-time in NFL championships, with four before the Super Bowl era, and four during. With their long history, the Giants have been able to send 15 players to the Hall of Fame and have sold Giants tickets in six different home stadiums. The Giants won their first game in team history 26-0 vs. New Britain Connecticut in front of a crowd of 10,000 fans who purchased Giants tickets. The Giants were able to find success fast as they won the NFL title in only their third season and finished with a league best 11-1-1 record. The prime time for the Giants came in the years of 1933-1946 when they qualified to play in the title game eight times and won it twice during those years. The next 60 years for the Giants were marked with ups and downs, as other teams joined the NFL in the city of New York, cutting into the sales of Giants tickets slightly as fans had to choose which team to root for. Most recently, success has found the Giants by surprise as they were able to upset the undefeated New England Patriots in the 2007 Super Bowl, a year where the Giants were the wild card and did not sell any Giants tickets in the playoffs. The team was able to once again beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl as underdogs when they won 21-17 in a thrilling 2011 Super Bowl game.
Meadowlands Stadium, also known as MetLife Stadium, is the home to not only the Giants, but also the New York Jets. MetLife Staidum is one of the newest stadiums in the NFL, constructed in 2010, and also is one of the largest, with a capacity to sell 82,566 Giants tickets. The first ever Giants tickets were sold at their original home at the historic Polo Grounds, which was also the former home of the New York Yankees for many years. After 30 seasons at the Polo Grounds, the team decided to move to the new Yankee Stadium and begin selling Giants tickets there. As the old Giants Stadium reached 30 years old, it was becoming one of the older stadiums in the NFL, and the Jets began looking for a new home. After failed attempts to get their own stadium, Jets ownership decided to enter into a partnership with the Giants in an effort to sell both Jets and Giants tickets at the same stadium. This vision came true in 2010 when the new Meadowlands Stadium opened for the first time. One of the notable events coming up at MetLife Stadium is the 2014 Super Bowl, an event that provides the opportunity to sell more than 80,000 Giants tickets at the biggest game of the season. The current rules for hosting a Super Bowl requires the city to have an average temperature of over 50 degrees in the month of February; something that the city of New York does not pass. However, commissioner Roger Goodell decided to waive this rule in favor of the Giants because of the great opportunity it presents by bringing the sport’s biggest event to the United States' biggest city.
12/4/12: Sitting at 7-4 the defending champion New York Giants seem to be gearing up for the playoffs once again. But first they will have their work cut out for them as they try and claim the division. With the Cowboys and Redskins just a game behind at 6-6 apiece, the difficult remaining schedule for the Giants could easily drop them to second or even third place. Up next for them is the struggling Saints who are 5-7 but have a high powered offense. The Giants are only 1-1 since their unusually late bye week and need to clamp down for the reminder of the season.
1/3/13: After a solid start to the season, the Giants stumbled in the 2nd half of the season. Huge losses to the Redskins, Ravens and Falcons were too much to overcome and the defending Super Bowl champions fell short of the playoffs and finished with a 9-7 record.
