Jersey Boys History
Jersey Boys opened on Broadway in 2005 and since that date, Jersey Boys tickets have been some of the most sought after musical tickets. The show follows the rise and fall of the musical group The Four Seasons in the 1960s. The musical takes place in four acts, each following the point of view of a different group member. Jersey Boys tickets were first made available at the August Wilson Theatre for the opening night on Broadway on November 6, 2005, but those were not the first Jersey Boys ticket available as the show originally previewed at the La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego California in 2004.
In January of 2014, after millions of Jersey Boys tickets sold, the show reached its 3,389th performance making it the 14th longest running show on Broadway. Since its debut, Jersey Boys tickets have been available all over the world featuring productions in Chicago, Vegas, London’s West End, Toronto, Melbourne, Sydney, Singapore and South Africa, as well as two separate US National Tours. Wherever the musical has played, Jersey Boys tickets are always in high demand. During the first US National tour, the sale of Jersey Boys tickets broke the house record at the Forrest Theatre in Philadelphia eight separate times.
The music for the show was written by Bob Gaudio, who was one of the original members of The Four Seasons. Throughout the development process, each member of the group was interviewed for his take on what the group went through in that era. With some of the perspectives having such differing takes on the same story, it eventually led to the formatting of the “seasons” of the acts to be told by a different group member.
In 2006, the musical won Tony awards for best musical, best performance by a leading actor in a musical and best performance by a featured actor in a musical. Winning three major Tony awards immediately boosted the demand for Jersey Boys tickets that year. The following year in 2007, the an original cast recording won a Grammy for Best Musical Show Album, once again raising demand for Jersey Boys tickets. In 2009, the original cast recording was certified platinum.
Throughout the month of October in 2010, $1 from every purchase of Jersey Boys tickets was donated to VH1’s Save The Music foundation. Jersey Boys tickets sales raised over $40,000 for the foundation in that one month alone. Many of the different productions of Jersey Boys all over the world have also helped many charitable causes.
It is rumored there will be film adaption of Jersey Boys put into production soon. In 2012, Jon Favreau was slated to direct, but Warner Bros. dropped production plans soon after. In early 2013, the production was picked back up with casting commencing. Like with other musicals made into film, a Jersey Boys movie would see another surge in the purchase of Jersey Boys tickets on Broadway. Jersey Boys has one of the best reviewed shows by both audiences and critics with no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
