Parking Guidelines

Super Bowl XLIX is just 11 days away, and the University of Phoenix Stadium will play host to the much anticipated game between the defending champion Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots. Prior to Super Bowl Sunday, however, downtown Phoenix will welcome an array of Super Bowl parties, ranging from the Pro Bowl to the three-day DirecTV Super Bowl Concert Party. For patrons looking to attend upcoming events by car, a few recommended driving routes and parking guidelines should be considered during Super Bowl week and Super Bowl Sunday.

With Super Bowl tickets on TiqIQ averaging at $4,427.92, vehicle traffic is expected to be heavy in downtown Phoenix next week. Drivers who are planning to drive should leave ample time for commuting to specific events. There will be several streets that are restricted in downtown Phoenix as the epicenter of Super Bowl week, known as the Verizon Super Bowl Center, is expected to draw tens of thousands of pedestrians.

For drivers entering downtown Phoenix, they should enter and exit through west and southbound streets, which are not as heavily used and should generate a smoother drive. However, the area’s best kept secret is to use the 7th avenue route when traveling to a Super Bowl event. Drivers could simply head eastbound on Fillmore, Monroe, Adams or Jefferson streets to reach their destination. 7th avenue is accessible I-17 and I-10 to loop 202 and SR51.

There are 42 public and private parking structures available throughout the downtown vicinity with more than 27,000 parking spaces. There are also seven ADA drop off locations and more than 3,000 curbside spots available. Meters in designated locations will cost $1.50 per hour, though not all public spots are metered.

Guests looking to attend the Pro Bowl and Super Bowl should visit superbowl.clickandpark.com to purchase a parking permit for each game. The Pro Bowl starts at 6pm MST this Sunday, so guests should arrive for parking one hour prior to this event. 12 parking lots surrounding the University of Phoenix Stadium will be open, offering more than 14,000 spots to fans willing to pay as much as $150 for parking passes.

The least expensive parking lots for Pro Bowl parking will be located at Tangers Outlets, West Valley, Purple Lot A, Purple Lot B, Purple Lot X, Blue Lot J, Youth Fields 1, Yellow Lot L, Yellow Lot Y1, Direct TV Lot, and Blue Lot K. Each of these sections will be priced at $39, excluding applicable fees and taxes. The rest of the lots around the venue will cost approximately $60. For buses and limousines, prices will vary depending on the lot but will cost between $200 and $250.

Other events taking place during Super Bowl week include Super Bowl Media Day on January January 27 at the US Airways Center, where many parking garages and lots are within walking distance. The US Airways Center offers an accommodating five-story, 700 spot center garage that provides the most convenient parking available for guests. Patrons could also park at the Jefferson street garage located at 3rd street and Jefferson next door. Prices for these lots start at just $20 for automobiles.

For the Super Bowl kickoff party next Wednesday at the Hotel Valley Ho, there is underground valet parking for $15 per vehicle. Guest looking to attend the Super Bowl parties throughout the week will have over 9,000 parking spaces available to park in the many different lots surrounding the venue, including lots for RV’s and oversized vehicles. For the Direct TV Super Fan Festival taking place on Super Bowl Sunday at the Pendergast Family Farm, all tickets for the event will include free onsite parking.

For the actual Super Bowl games taking place later on this day parking prices will vary depending on the lot as Tanger Outlets, West Valley Family Church, Purple Lot A, Purple Lot B, Blue Lot J, Blue Lot K, Yellow Lot L, Direct TV Lot, and Purple Lot X will be priced at $100. Gray Lot ADA and Youth Fields 1 is priced at $150. The cheapest lot available to park in will be the COG Utility and Brown Lot, which costs $50 day-of. Other lots will be priced at $200 or more around University of Phoenix Stadium.
