Backstreet Boys Brief History
Longtime boy band group Backstreet Boys originally formed in 1993 in Orlando, Florida. Their self-titled
debut international album in 1996 rose the group to fame and by 1999 the vocal group achieved
superstar status after releasing their third studio album in 1999 titled “Millennium.” Overall the group
has released 8 studio albums all together, selling over 130 million records worldwide. Backstreet boys
are now the best selling boy band in history and one of the world’s best selling music artists. After a
couple of hiatuses from recording music and some of the members leaving the group to pursue other
interests, the boy band eventually got back together and released their latest album “In a World Like Us”
in 2013, the group’s first independently released album selling over 800,000 copies worldwide.
The group’s “In a World Like This” tour kicked off in May of 2013 as part of their 20th anniversary that
included 11 legs and over 140 shows in Asia, Europe, and 80 concert shows in North America and has
dates that will run through the month of June of 2015. It’s the vocal band’s tenth concert tour and first
in seven years featuring all the members of the Backstreet Boys. In 2014, their world tour grossed over
32.8 million dollars in tickets sales which was the 44th highest grossing world tour in 2014.
