Grammy Award winner, rock and roll hall of famer, and dedicated activist, Jackson Browne is regarded
as one Americas most eloquent songwriters of our time. Born in Germany, the son of a United States
serviceman grew up in sunny Southern California. Singing folk music in local clubs as a teenager, Browne
moved to New York City joining the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. He became the chief songwriter and
eventually gained employment as a staff writer for Elektra Records publishing company. It was here he
connected with Velvet Underground singer Nico, the two developed a personal and working
relationship. Jackson would return to California forming a folk band in Los Angeles. His natural
songwriting ability shined as his songs were recorded by the likes of Tom Rush, Gregg Allman, the
Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, and more. When he began recording his own original music, Rolling Stone
recognized him as an emerging talent citing his “mind-boggling melodies”. Signing with music industry
legend David Geffen to Asylum Records, Jackson released the self titled Jackson Browne in 1972. He
gained a top ten hit with “doctor on my eyes” and radio play from songs like “Jamaica Say You Will” and
“Song for Adam”. Jackson Browne tickets were sold in effort to promote the album, sharing the bill with
a young Linda Ronstadt and Joni Mitchell. At 23 years old, the moving songwriter had a gold record
under his belt and secured his fan base with follow-up records For Everyman (1973) and Late for the Sky
(1974). All three albums have been certified platinum by the RIAA selling over 1 million copies each. It
was evident fans of Browne connected with his personal lyrics and subject matter over serene
instrumentation. In 1976 tragedy stuck as Phyllis Major, Jackson’s wife took her own life. Dealing with
the pain and recording his next LP, he reached his highest plateau yet. Running on Empty became
Jackson Browne’s biggest commercial success, peaking at number 11 on the Billboard Singles charts.
The album of the same name earned two Grammy nominations for his work including Album of the
Year. Containing such songs as “The Road”, “Rosie”, and “The Load-Out/Stay”, the album is Browne’s
most successful to date. Using live recordings from concerts, hotel rooms, and bars, conceptually the
album it’s one of rock’s most interesting recordings. Browne captures the 70s lifestyle around him,
sleeping in barren hotels and wandering between cities. Rolling stone named it one of the 100 Best-
Selling Albums of the 70’s. Jackson Browne began using his music to spark social action, performing at
energy awareness concerts and writing politically motivated music. With a lifetime of classics and music
industry accolades, the songwriting legend was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.
Ten years later, Browne was honored yet again as rock and rolls biggest stars contributed to a tribute
album honoring the singer. Jackson picked up the guitar once again in 2014 with his 14th studio release,
Standing In The Breach, giving fans the opportunity to purchase Jackson Browne tickets for his upcoming
