Sasquatch Festival News

4-21-14: According to the Rolling Stone, the Sasquatch festival has decided to go against the idea of adding a second weekend. In what would be similar to Coachella, a second weekend around the 4th of July was original planned for the Washington festival. Thus far, the average asking price on the secondary market for Sasquatch Music Festival tickets is $822 with a get-in price of $353. Overall, ticket prices are up 15% this week.

Sasquatch! Music Festival History

If you like your live music with a side of stunning natural beauty, Sasquatch! Music Festival is for you. Located 150 miles east of Seattle at The Gorge Amphitheatre in Quincy, Washington, the natural amphitheatre is carved into the basalt cliffs that rise high above the Columbia River Gorge, resulting in stunning views of the river, canyon, and mountain ranges that surround the venue. Often regarded as one of the most beautiful venues in the world, The Gorge is a Billboard “Top Amphitheatre” and a 9-time winner of Pollstar’s “Best Outdoor Music Venue” award. As such, Sasquatch Music Festival tickets also include camping for you and 20,000 of your closest friends. The first Sasquatch Music Festival tickets went on sale in 2002, when local promoter Adam Zacks envisioned a destination festival for the Pacific Northwest to rival California’s Coachella. Sasquatch Music Festival tickets have been in high demand ever since and, in 2013, Sasquatch Music Festival tickets sold out in a record 90 minutes. At the 2013 festival, those with Sasquatch Music Festival tickets were treated to a set that included Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Mumford & Sons, Vampire Weekend, Arctic Monkeys, and Sigur Ros. Due to the popularity of the event, organizers announced early in 2014 that the festival would, like Coachella, be expanded to two separate weekends instead of the usual one-weekend format. Festival organizers announced that the first weekend of the 2014 festival would be held at the usual date, over Memorial Day weekend from May 23-25, and that the new weekend would be added over Fourth of July weekend featuring a completely different lineup, unlike Coachella. Lineups for both weekends were announced and Sasquatch Music Festival tickets went on sale. However, in late March, the Fourth of July weekend was cancelled due to poor Sasquatch Music Festival ticket sales, with venue owners Live Nation stating that the second weekend was “not embraced” by fans. The Fourth of July weekend lineup was supposed to include Soundgarden, Kraftwerk, New Order, Frank Ocean, and Neutral Milk Hotel. The Memorial Day weekend lineup remains in tact and ready to go, with Sasquatch Music Festival tickets currently on sale and the daily lineups and stage information having been released. Performers on the main Sasquatch Stage include Outkast, The National, Queens of the Stone Age, Violent Femmes, Foster the People, M.I.A., Cold War Kids, Cage the Elephant, Foals, HAIM, Kid Cudi, and De La Soul. Performers on the Bigfoot Stage include Cut Copy, Major Lazer, Mogwai, Tyler the Creator, Die Antwoord, Phantogram, Washed Out, Chance the Rapper, and Panda Bear. Performers on the El Chupacabra Stage include electronic acts like Boys Noize, Ryan Hemsworth, Big Freedia, Chet Faker, and AlunaGeorge, as well as comedy acts like Nick Swardson, Demetri Martin, Eugene Mirman, and Hannibal Buress. Acts performing on the Yeti Stage include indie bands like Houndmouth, The Growlers, Parquet Courts, Waxahatchee, Deap Vally, and Damien Jurado, while several local bands are slated to play on the Narwhal Stage. So if you’re looking to start your summer with a musical bang this Memorial Day weekend surrounded by unrivaled natural beauty, there’s no better way than with Sasquatch Music Festival tickets.
