A Few Good Reasons To Buy Willie Nelson Tickets on TicketIQ.com
One of the true mavericks of the country scene, Willie Nelson has achieved iconic status thanks to an astonishing sixty years’ worth of classic songs and recordings. Born in Abbott, Texas in 1931, he first began singing gospel songs in his local church as a youngster before fronting various bands including Bohemian Polka and The Texans. Following eight months in the US Air Force and a stint as a local radio DJ, he moved to Washington where he penned hits for Billy Walker, Roy Orbison and most famously Patsy Cline (“Crazy”). After signing to Nashville’s Liberty Records, he released his own debut, And Then I Wrote, scoring Top 10 country hits with “Willingly” and “Touch Me,” the former a duet with then-wife Shirley Collie. Willie Nelson tickets continued to sell amongst his loyal cult following throughout the 60s, but frustrated by the lack of mainstream success and support from his label, he decided to retire from the music industry in the early 70s. However a move to Austin reignited his creative spark and after founding the annual Fourth of July Picnic festival, he became the first country artist to sign to Atlantic Records in 1973. Shotgun Willie, divorce concept album Phases & Stages and his first No.1 country album, Red Headed Stranger, all ensured his comeback was a successful one, with the latter spawning his first chart-topping single, “Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain.” Embracing his ‘outlaw country’ reputation, he then teamed up with Waylon Jennings for 1978’s Waylon & Willie, the beginning of a hugely collaborative period which saw him record albums with Leon Russell (One For The Road), Merle Haggard (Pancho & Lefty) and Ray Price (San Antonio Rose), score a hit duet with Julio Iglesias and form The Highwaymen super-group alongside Jennings, Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson. Simultaneously pursuing a film career, he remained as prolific as ever throughout the 80s and 90s, releasing Willie Nelson tickets for several tours and gaining huge critical acclaim for 1998’s Teatro. In 2003, he achieved his biggest US Hot 100 hit in nineteen years with Toby Keith duet “Beer For My Horses,” whilst joint efforts with Ryan Adams & The Cardinals (Songbird) and Norah Jones (Here We Go Again) proved just how highly regarded he remained amongst the younger generation. Following the release of 2012’s Heroes, his first solo US Top 20 album in 30 years, Willie Nelson tickets went on sale for an extensive tour across North America.
