There was arguably no bigger surprise in the 2013 college football season than the Auburn Tigers. Auburn were coming off a dismal 3-9 2012 season under then Head Coach Gene Chizik, including 0-8 in the SEC west. However, Gus Malzahn was the savior last year as he returned as the Head Coach for Auburn who was previously the offensive coordinator for the team for a young Cam Newton winning the National Championship over the Oregon Ducks in 2010. Gus Malzahn led Auburn to a 11-1 2013 season in what was a miracle year for the Tigers that included a victory over the Georgia Bulldogs on a 4th and 18 hail mary and a unbelievable field goal return for a touchdown by cornerback Chris Davis to beat Crimson Tide.
However, Auburn would then lose in the National Championship game to Jameis Winston and the Florida State Seminoles, but considering the expectations the Tigers had coming into last year, their 2013 campaign should be considered a major success.
The Auburn Football schedule this season begins at home with a meeting with Arkansas Razorbacks. Other intriguing matchups on the Auburn football schedule includes a rematch with Texas A&M in last year’s wild 45-41 win in the most expensive game for Auburn football tickets and a meeting with the South Carolina Gamecocks where it is the second most expensive home game for Auburn football tickets on the Auburn football schedule.
Other games at Jordan-Hare Stadium on the 2014 Auburn football schedule are meetings with San Jose Spartans and the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs respectively. The cheapest home game for Auburn football tickets is their September 6 meeting with the Spartans with a current average price of $52.19 in the secondary market. The second cheapest game for Auburn tickets is on September 27 when they host the Bulldogs with an average price of $58.81.
There is not one game in Auburn football tickets that averages over $200 in the 2014 Auburn football schedule at Jordan-Hare Stadium. However, Auburn football tickets for home games on the Auburn football schedule in average prices still ranks in the top 25 most expensive college football tickets.
Coming into this season, returning players include the man that made these miracles happen in 2013 with the return of quarterback Nick Marshall who had a terrific season running for over 1,000 yards with 12 rushing touchdowns and throwing for 1,976 yards for 14 touchdowns. However, there is uncertainty of Marshall’s status for the beginning of the season and whether he will miss games due to a recent charge of marijuana possession.
While Nick Marshall has paid the fines, if he misses any games expect to see sophomore quarterback Jeremy Johnson to step up. Also returning for the Tigers is senior running back Corey Grant who was the backup running back for Tre Mason last year. Corey started two games for Auburn last year and recorded 647 rushing yards with 6 touchdowns. Corey will be joined this year by Cameron Artis-Payne who also had 6 touchdowns of his own last year as the Tigers will look to wear out defenses with their running attack.
The Auburn Tigers will look to rebound for much stronger season this year after an 8-5 finish in 2014 plus a record of 4-4 in the SEC conference, but were able manage a bowl game against Wisconsin in which they lost 34-31. Head coach Gus Malzahn is in his third year with the team and so for a has had a solid winning percentage of over .700 including making it all the way to the National Championship in 2013 in his first year with the team following a 12-2 season but lost a close game to Florida State to close out the season. Auburn is still expected to make some noise in the SEC division, but it will tough to predict whether they can advance further than the Semifinals.
