The Big 12 basketball tournament has been around since 1997 bringing some of the biggest powerhouses in college basketball to play against each other. Big 12 tournament tickets are also some of the most popular when conference tournaments start in March. The tournament was held in Kansas City, Missouri at Kemper Arena from its inception until 2003. In 2003, 2004 and 2006, Big 12 tournament tickets were available through the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, where the tournament was held in those years. In 2008, the tournament was moved back to Kansas City, but at the Sprint Center. The Ford Center in Oklahoma City got the chance at Big 12 tournament tickets revenue in 2009 before the tournament was moved back to the Sprint Center in 2010., where it will stay until at least 2016.

Kansas Jayhawks fans have historically gotten the best deal out of getting Big 12 tournament tickets, appearing in the conference tournament finals 10 different times. Nine of those times, the Jayhawks won the Big 12 tournament. For the past nine seasons, Kansas has either been the outright or co-regular season conference champion. Jayhawks fans who purchase Big 12 tournament tickets are more likely to see Kansas win a conference championship than lose. The Jayhawks have won the tournament nine times and have only lost seven total games in tournament history. The Texas Longhorns have had mixed results for fans getting Big 12 tournament tickets to see them play. Texas has reached the title game six times, but have gone winless in those six games.

For those with Big 12 tournament tickets hoping for big upsets, they might have to keep hoping. No teams in tournament history have won the tournament as less than a three-seed. A three-seed champion has happened five times. Higher seeds, like No. 9 Baylor in 2009, have reached the title game, but have not been able to win the tournament. The highest sees to ever reach the title game was No. 10 Missouri in the tournament’s inaugural season in 1997.

As the tournament gets closer, it’s likely the price of Big 12 tournament tickets will increase. The conference has three teams ranked in the top 25: No. 8 Kansas, No. 17 Iowa State and No. 19 Texas. The Big 12 also has one other team in addition to those three, Oklahoma, that has a winning percentage over .700 this season. Still, it’s likely Kansas will be winning their fourth conference title in the past five seasons. At the least, the streak of at least No. 3 seeds winning the tournament is almost guaranteed. Iowa State, with leading scorer in the conference Melvin Ejim, could be a possibility to upset the Jayhawks in this year’s tournament.

Any fan who purchases Big 12 tournament tickets is going to see one of the most exciting tournaments in college basketball. It won’t be a surprise when Big 12 tournament tickets are the most demanded ticket in not just Kansas City, but the entire southwest region once March rolls around.
