Florida State Seminoles News
5-28-15: The NBA and NHL Playoffs are in full swing, but in a quiet gym in Tallahassee, the upcoming NCAA season is quickly approaching. The team practicing is the Florida State Seminoles men's basketball team, who began summer workouts Wednesday morning. The Seminoles will welcome top-five recruit Dwayne Bacon to the team in 2015 and will also bring in top high school prospect Malik Beasley.
10-15-14: The Seminoles had little trouble rolling past Syracuse 38-20 on the road this past weekend. Jameis Winston may have had his best game of the season en route to their 22nd straight victory. Winston was 30 of 36 passes for 317 yards and three touchdowns. Freshman running back Dalvin Cook had 23 carries for 122 yards and one TD. The ‘Noles dropped to No. 2 in both the AP and Coaches Poll this week thanks to Mississippi State’s win over Auburn. FSU plays host to AP No. 5 Notre Dame this weekend.
10-6-14: The No. 1 team in the country managed to avoid being upset as they beat Wake Forest 43-3. Roberto Aguayo nailed all five of his field goals, including a 52-yarder, making him 12 for 12 this season and 33 of 34 for his career. The Seminole defense held Wake to just 126 yards of total offense and forced three turnovers. Jameis Winston was 23 of 39 for 297 yards with a TD and an interception. The ‘Noles travel to Syracuse this week.
10-1-14: The defending national champions overcame adversity for a second straight game. They rallied from a 24-7 first-quarter deficit against NC State to earn their school-record 20th consecutive win, 56-41 over the Wolfpack. A week after missing the game against Clemson because of a one-game suspension, Jameis Winston threw for 365 yards and four touchdowns. He was intercepted twice and FSU had four turnovers total. They have major issues on defense and will need to plug those holes if they want to repeat. They host hapless Wake Forest this week.
9-5-14: The Florida State Seminoles are coming off a 37-31 victory over Oklahoma State this past weekend but it wasn’t exactly an overwhelming performance from the defending champs. FSU QB Jameis Winston struggled early on with two first half interceptions but rebounded nicely in the second half finishing the game with 370 passing yards, including a game-clinching 50 yard touchdown pass to Rashad Green as the FSU receiver had a tremendous game with 11 catches for 203 yards. FSU survived to get past a better than expected Okalhoma State team to win its 17th straight game overall as the Seminoles get ready to host the Citadel Bulldogs this Saturday.
