12-1-14: The Spartans were held to a season low in yardage, 298, but thanks to their defense and special teams they had little trouble cruising past Penn State 34-10. Connor Cook threw for 180 yards on 13-of-25 passing. Michigan State held Penn State to just 233 yards, including only 38 on the ground, and forced two turnovers. The Spartans will await their bowl game opponent.
11-10-14: The Spartans couldn’t relive the magic of last year's conference title game win over Ohio State, as Michigan State was crushed 49-37 by the Buckeyes. The real story was how the OSU offense was able to move with ease on the Spartan defense. MSU allowed 568 yards of total offense Saturday, which was more than double the 279.4 yards per game they had been giving up coming into the game. They will travel to Maryland this week.
11-3-14: The Spartans had a bye this week before playing the biggest conference game of the year this week against Ohio State. Michigan State has won six straight games since their 46-27 loss at Oregon. During that streak they've averaged 48.7 points per game. They won 35-11 two weeks against Michigan.
10-27-14: The Spartans dominated Michigan, 35-11, thanks to three rushing touchdowns from Jeremy Langford and stellar play from their defense. Langford had 177 yards on 35 carries. Connor Cook threw for 227 yards and a 70-yard bomb to Tony Lippett. The Spartans held the Wolverines to just 186 yards overall and 65 on the ground. Michigan State has a bye this week.
10-20-14: Sparty gained 662 yards of total offense, beating the lowly Hoosiers of Indiana 56-17. Connor Cook threw for 332 yards and three touchdowns. Nick Hill ran for 178 yards and a TD, while Jeremy Langford had 109 yards and three scores. MSU ran for 330 yards on 51 carries. Michigan State limited Indian to just 11 yards passing. AP No. 8 Michigan State hosts in-state rival Michigan this week.
10-15-14: There were some nervous Spartan fans for a time in the fourth quarter Saturday. Michigan State never trailed on the road in their 45-31 win against Purdue, but they never had a comfortable lead. They nearly blew a 24 point lead in the fourth quarter. Michigan State led 38-17 entering the fourth quarter before the Boilermakers scored twice to get within a touchdown. QB Connor Cook threw for 238 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Jeremy Langford ran for 104 yards and Nick Hill added two rushing TDs. The Spartans will hit the road this week to play Indiana.
10-6-14: The Spartans gave away their conference opener, allowing 19 points to Nebraska in the final 13 minutes of the game. Michigan State would be victorious 27-22. Trae Waynes intercepted Tommy Armstrong Jr. with 30 seconds left to seal the win. QB Connor Cook was just 11 for 29 passes for 234 yards. The Spartan defense forced four Cornhusker turnovers and held running back Ameer Abdullah to 45 yards on 24 carries. They travel to Purdue this week.
10-1-14: The Spartans has another easy non conference win this weekend, beating Wyoming 56-14. Most of Michigan State's starters were done early, as quarterback Connor Cook threw for 126 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for a score. The Spartan defense held Wyoming to 286 total yards. MSU should be well-rested for their Big Ten opener this weekend against AP No. 19 Nebraska. The Cornhuskers will be a true test for the Spartans.
9-22-14: The Spartans had no trouble destroying their in-state opponent Eastern Michigan 73-14, jumping out to a 49-0 halftime lead. The 73 points scored was their most in 25 years. QB Connor Cook was done in the second quarter, after he threw two touchdown passes to Tony Lippett and ran for a score. Jeremy Langford had a first-quarter TD run, and backup Delton Williams had three rushing scores. The Spartans will host Wyoming this week.
9-15-14: The Spartans were idle this week, but open up as a 45-point favorite over Eastern Michigan in the teams’ game this Saturday at Spartan Stadium. Michigan State is coming off a 46-27 loss at No. 2-ranked Oregon on Sept. 6. It was the largest margin of defeat under Coach Mark Dantonio since Nebraska beat Michigan State 24-3 back on Oct. 29, 2011. This will be the 10th all-time meeting between the teams. The Spartans have won all of the previous nine games.
9-9-14: Oh what could have been for the Spartans? Michigan State surrendered a nine-point second-half lead, falling apart in the game's final 25 minutes as it had no answer for Oregon's offense falling to the Ducks 46-27. QB Connor Cook threw for 343 yards on, hooking up 11 times for 133 yards and a TD with Tony Lippett. MSU couldn’t rush the ball effectively, with Jeremy Langford getting 24 carries and just 86 yards. The Spartan defense wore down in the second half and yielded 491 total yards to Oregon. Michigan State has a bye next week.
9-4-14: Michigan State's outcome was never really in doubt in their 45-7 win over Jacksonville State, though the future of its season was when quarterback Connor Cook took a late hit to his legs in the first quarter. Cook would later return to the game after his little scare completing 12 of 13 passes for 285 yards. Running back Jeremy Langford added 57 rushing yards. Langford was limited due to an ankle injury. The AP No. 7 Spartans will need all their players healthy when square off with AP No. 3 Oregon this Saturday in a major non-conference showdown.
