12-1-14: The Red Raiders had three 100 yard receivers for the first time since 2005, as they fell just short losing to Baylor 48-46. Bradley Marquez had six catches for 130 yards and three TDs, DeAndre Washington had six catches for 107 yards one score, and Jakeem Grant had five catches for 155 yards and one touchdown. Washington became Texas Tech's first 1,000-yard rusher since 1998. Patrick Mahomes set a Big 12 freshman record with 598 yards on 30-of-56 passing with six touchdowns.
11-24-14: Freshman quarterback Patrick Mahomes orchestrated a game winning 75 yard fourth quarter drive, which finished with a 44 yard touchdown pass to Kenny Williams that lifted Texas Tech to a 34-31 victory over Iowa State Saturday. Mahomes finished with 328 passing yards and four touchdowns. The Red Raiders close out the season this week against Baylor in Arlington, TX.
11-10-14:The Red Raiders had a bye this week to recover from their 34-13 loss to Texas. Nothing has gone right for Texas Tech this season. First, they fired their defensive coordinator Matt Wallerstedt after he showed up to practice under the influence. Second, they gave up 82 points to TCU a few weeks back. Finally, they’re on their third string quarterback. It’s not pretty and Lubbock and one must wonder if a coaching change may take place. They will host Oklahoma this week.
11-3-14: The Red Raiders were thoroughly outplayed by Texas Saturday, losing to the Longhorns 34-13. Texas Tech backup quarterback Pat Mahomes left the game after getting hit. True freshman walk-on Vincent Testaverde Jr., son of Vinny Testaverde, finished the game for Texas Tech. De'Andre Washington rushed for 97 yards on 16 carries. Texas Tech scored just one offensive touchdown, and have a losing record in the Big 12 for five straight years.
10-27-14: Texas Tech couldn’t stop TCU. The Horned Frogs scored a school record 82 points against the Red Raiders Saturday in an 82-27 win. It's the most points Texas Tech has ever given up in a game. Texas Tech allowed 10 touchdowns, 785 yards, and four field goals total. Quarterback Davis Webb left the game with an injury. The Red Raider’s will host struggling Texas this week in Lubbock.
10-20-14: Davis Webb threw for 288 yards and three touchdowns to lead Texas Tech to a 34-21 victory over Kansas Saturday. The win snapped the Red Raiders' eight-game Big 12 losing streak that dated back to last season. Running back De'Andre Washington finished with 164 yards on 23 carries. The Red Raiders will travel to Fort Worth this week to take on AP No. 11 TCU.
10-6-14: The Red Raiders are awful. There is no way else of saying it. They were thrashed 45-13 by Kansas State this past Saturday. QB Davis Webb threw for 247 yards and two touchdowns for Texas Tech. He also threw a career-high four interceptions. Kiff Kingsbury’s team was penalized nine times for 89 yards. They now have 55 penalties for the season, which is among the worst in college football. They host West Virginia this week.
10-1-14: The Red Raiders are 2-2 on the year and coming off a tough 45-35 loss to Oklahoma State this past Thursday. QB Davis Webb passed for 374 yards and four touchdowns before leaving the game in the fourth quarter because of a shoulder injury. His status is uncertain for their game at Kansas State this week. The Red Raiders did gain 506 yards, but committed 16 penalties for 158 yards.
9-22-14: Things are getting ugly out in Lubbock quick. News broke this week that defensive coordinator Matt Wallerstedt had been fired for showing up to campus under the influence of some unknown substance. They had bye this week but are coming off a 49-28 thumping at the hands of Arkansas. The Razorbacks gashed the Red Raiders defense for 438 yards on the ground. They will have their hands full this week as they travel to Stillwater to take on a young Oklahoma State team.
9-15-14: This matchup might have been even more one-sided if it were not for a couple of costly Arkansas mistakes as the Red Raiders were crushed 49-28 by the Razorbacks. Texas Tech gave up a whopping 438 yards on the ground, including seven touchdowns. Texas Tech's Davis Webb completed 27 of 45 passes for 252 yards and three touchdowns. He rushed for one TD and threw two interceptions. The Red Raiders will travel to Stillwater to take on Oklahoma State.
9-9-14: Like many teams this past weekend, Texas Tech was in for a scare. Davis Webb threw three touchdown passes to Bradley Marquez to help lift the Red Raiders to a 30-26 victory over Texas-El Paso this past Saturday night. Justin Stockton led Texas Tech with 139 yards on just eight carries, including a 75-yarder for a touchdown in the second quarter. The Red Raiders will play host to Arkansas this Saturday in Lubbock.
9-4-14: The Red Raiders had a difficult time with FCS opponent Central Arkansas last week, trailing 16-7 early on. Both teams traded touchdowns in the second half after Texas Tech established a lead. Kliff Kingsbury’s squad ended up winning the game 42-35, but it’s hard to come away impressed with the Red Raiders after their performance last week. Their offense wasn’t the problem as the Red Raiders got 452 yards and four touchdowns from quarterback Davis Webb. It’s the defense that remains worrisome. They travel to EL Paso, TX this week to take on UTEP.
