The multi-purpose indoor arena has a seating capacity of 17,805 for concert events, 17,003 for basketball and hockey games, and 16,900 for arena football games.
The Smoothie King Center first broke ground in November of 1995 and initially opened in October of 1999 at a construction cost of $114 million. Smoothie King Center is the home of New Orleans Pelicans of the NBA and the New Orleans VooDoo of the AFL.

Prices for parking around the arena but will range from $9 to $25 for certain events.
Smoothie King Center uses the Superdome Garage that has up to 5,000 parking spaces.
The parking lots around the arena are all conveniently within walking distance.
Gates and Openings
The Smoothie Kings Center has four entrances for the public at NW Ground Level (Dave Dixon Dr.), NE Ground Level (Dave Dixon Dr.), North 100 Level (Dave Dixon Dr.), and East Ground Level (Le Rouge St.).
Doors open vary depending on the event but for sporting events usually 90 minutes before the start of an event.
Normal size bags are allowed to enter the arena after a search is performed but any bags that bigger than 12x 12 will be prohibited.
